Found Negatives

Wednesday, January 23, 2008

While cleaning the office on Monday, I ran across some old negatives and slides stuffed amongst some military papers and folders. Most of these were destined for the attic to make room for 2008. In these old images, I ran across the little girl I wanted to adopt in Slovenia. I was traveling with the Red Cross to orphanages for war victims, basically children.
This little girl was so shy, while all the other kids literally fought for candy, toys and clothes being delivered. These children had not seen candy or sweets for months, much less any toys that were not broken. As she stood alone at the edge of the commotion, I could sense the loneliness and despair of losing one's entire family. I offered her a cupcake and we become inseparable for the rest of my visit. She was one of hundreds of minors without a home, family, or a place to go. Almost 14 years later, I still wonder where and what happen to the little shy girl who stole my heart.

Working on the Nikon

Here's a cool shot taken with the new Sigma 4.5mm lens of me working on a Nikon FE rewind knob. This is going to be a very cool wedding and environmental portrait lens. I plan on taking it out for a soon and see what I can get. I'm on the processes of laying out a "Trash the Dress" session at a softball park once the weather gets warmer. Look for updates soon!

WPPI - Las Vegas

Wednesday, January 09, 2008

Despite the full email box of clients waiting wedding consultations, I'm planning to attend the Wedding & Portrait International Convention (WPPI). There are a few of us from Oklahoma going that way, so if you are thinking of attending, drop me a line so we can get together afterwards for dinner and shooting. I do have an engagement session to shoot while there of a wonderful couple that I have yet to meet in person. I'm sure the location will lead itself to some wonderful romantic shots.

I look forward to see you there!

The Shot - Who won?

Wednesday, January 02, 2008

I was up very early this morning.... awake since 3am but didn't get out of bed until 430am. Of course, the alarm normally starts beeping at 545am, so this was quite a bit early for me. I'm not exactly sure why I was up, but instead of tossing and turning, disturbing Irene, out of bed and on the computer. Maybe I was just ready to get 2008 going.... maybe it was too much relaxing after the holidays... I'm not sure.
But I remembered that I missed the final episode of the "The Shot" on VH1, so off to the internet I went.
WOW! What a finale! If you have not seen it... here is the link

Enjoy the surprise!
